    Abstract

    ABSTRACT Telecommunications sector are companies engaged in industries that provide information exchange for the relative relationships categorized as a long-distance relationship. Travelling telecommunications industry in Indonesia is starting from the presence of Law No.36/1999 on telecommunications is a good start to the competition in the telecommunications market in Indonesia. Telecommunications sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) by Indonesian Capital Market Directory (ICMD) of the nine listed companies namely Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero), Indosat, XL Axiata, Smartfren Telecom, Tower Bersama Infrastruktur, Trikomsel Oke, Inovisi Infracom dan Renewable Power Indonesia/Katarina Utama. Companies in this sector are always trying to create competitiveness in various business strategies in order to increase profitability. Creation begins competitiveness of innovation is the development of activities and new ideas are constantly in the organization. The purpose of this study provide empirical evidence on the effects of innovation on the profitability and measure the role of interaction in the business strategy in effect innovation on profitability. The study was conducted in the telecommunications sector in Indonesia Stock Exchange with the observation period 2008-2013. The sampling method is purposive sampling. The unit of analysis were 36 cases with data analysis method using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS software Ver 2.0 M3. Research findings that innovation has a significant positive effect on profitability. Interaction as a business strategy not moderating influence innovation on profitability.
