    Abstract

Mango and jackfruit plant play important role in fruit trade. In the production process, there are many constraints such as pest plants. The most deadly insect is a stem borer insect. Research on this insect was still very lack, therefore it becomes important to do research in collecting the basic data of fruit crop pest in South Sumatra. The purpose of this research was to investigate the stem borer species diversity, and the flow hoist attack symptoms stem borer. Research was conducted at the high and lowland in South Sumatra. Samples were deliberately in plants showing symptoms of an attack (using a purposive sampling method). Results showed both in lowland and highland, mango and jackfruit plants were attacked by stem borer. Three species of mango stem borer were Xystocera sp. (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), Rhytidodera simulans (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), Batocera rufomaculata (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), while jackfruit was attacked by Batocera rufomaculata (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), and Batocera rubus (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae)
