        Abstract

Beauveria bassiana is an entomopathogenic fungi potential as biological control agents. The decrease of density, viability of spores, and virulence of B. bassiana due to subculture would be an obstacle in selection and development of the fungi as a biological control agents. This laboratory research was conducted to determine density and viability of spores of B. bassiana due to sub-cultures, and to investigate the fungi virulence againts nymphs of rice bug (Leptocorisa oratorius). B. bassiana was grown in Glucose Yeast Agar (GYA) cultures enriched with 0,5% cricket powder. The third instar of the nymphs were inoculated by 10rank6 spores/ml topical application of fungi sub-culture isolates. The results showed that the B. bassiana spore density and viability grown in sub-culture didn't decrease from the zero to the ninth sub-culture. Mortality of the nymphs caused by all sub-cultures of the fungi ranged between 80 to 100%. However, the LTrank50 of the subcultures of B. bassiana decreased consistently.
