      Abstract

      The research was conducted in Phytopathological Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from July to September 2004. The objective of the research wast to investigate the effect of ultraviolet radiation at different distance and duration to the development of sour rot disease of post harvested tomato caused by fungi Geotrichum candidum. The research was arranged in a Split Plot Design, the main plot was irradiation distance (1,50, 1,75 and 2,00 m) and the sub plot was irradiation duration (1,2,3 and 4 hours). The result showed that the best distance suitable to lengthen the incubation period was 1,50 m. Treatment of four hour irradiation was effective to lengthen incubation period and reduce esion number, but was no effect on lesion size and sporulation, although they were better than the control.
