    Abstract

Science is knowledge that has been classified, organized, systematized and interpreted to produce an objective truth that can be verifiable and scientifically retested. Science according to the Qur'an includes all kinds of knowledge that is useful for people in their lives, either the present or the future. Therefore, as servants of God who have been created in the earth, must master not only the world’s but also eschatology because if we want to be happy in this world and hereafter must pursuit the science because it is an obligation to either male or female, old or young, adults and children in appropriate ways based on the circumstances, talents and abilities. In Islamic thought there are two sources of knowledge, namely reason and revelation. Both can not be contested because the people were given the freedom to develop their own minds based on the guidance of the Qur'an and Sunnah. Hence, in Islamic thought there is eternal absolute truth science because it comes from God's revelation and relative truth science because it comes from the human mind. Humans are the most perfect God's creatures because they are supplied by a set of potential and the ultimate potential in human beings are mind. Through, mind, human can think and the the result of his thoughts is in the form of science and technology. And science and technology are developed based on faith and piety to Allah SWT, because through them Allah SWT will provide a guarantee for human life goodness including the environment. In addition, it is hoped that humans are responsible for the preservation of nature and environment, if it is not done they would do mischief on the earth, and humans’ functions as caliph and improver on the earth shifted into the destroyer, which in turn, will affect to the ecological balance and the next generation survival. As a scientist what has been obtained in the Islamic world in the past became the center of science and culture development and by God willing, the future glory will be repeated if the Muslims are willing to learn and practice Islam as a whole.
