Toxicity of Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. Isolates againts Nymphal Eurydema pulchrum (Westw.) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae)

    Abstract

    The objective of this laboratory experiment was to determine median lethal time (LT50) of isolates of Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. against nymphs of Eurydema pulchrum (Westw.), nymphal mortality, and adult emergence. The tested isolates were originally obtained from several insects, i.e. Hypothenemus hampei and Conopomorpha cramerella from Jember, Chrysodeixis chalcites from Gambung, H. hampei and Plutella xylostella from South Sumatera, Setora nitens and Leptocorisa acuta from Jember. Conidia from slant culture of GYA added chitin from small mole criket diluted to get 103 conidia per ml. The third nymphs of E. pulchrum were provided with mustard leaves and inoculated by topical application of B. bassiana isolates. The highest level of nymphal mortality (93.33%) was caused by the isolate of C. chalcites from Gambung. LT50 of this isolate was 2.25 days. The lowest level of nymphal mortality (26.67%) with 7.38 days of LT50 was exerted by isolate of C. cramerella from Jember. The isolate of C. chalcites from Gambung also caused lower level (6.67%) of adults emerged. The highest level of the adult emergence produced by the isolate of H. hampei from Jember was 66,67%.
