    Abstract

    Fuel price increases of oil and gas currently causing most of the small metal casting industries can not survive. Therefore, the design and development of foundry furnace fuel briquettes using low grade coal which is much cheaper than fuel oil and gas conducted. However, this furnace was only able to produce maximum combustion chamber temperatures 600 ° C and unable to cast aluminum which has melting temperature 659 ° C and 750 ° C for its pouring temperature. After design optimization by applying the principles of heat loss management then the furnace can even melt the brass which has 1200 ° C of pouring temperature.
